Affiliate Marketing at the Craft and Hobby Association Mega Show

In January, I was privileged to be invited to speak on a panel about affiliate marketing at the annual Craft and Hobby Association 2015 Mega Show. CHA 2015 took place at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California and it was one of the bigger conventions I’ve ever attended.

Our panel was headed up by Jennifer Priest of Hydrangea Hippo and consisted of Jen Goode (100 Directions), Sara Crosby (CJ), Laura Hollar (Sizzix), and myself.

While we only had one short hour to cover all the bases, we had a lively discussion of the ins and outs of affiliate marketing, how to avoid common mistakes, and best practices for both affiliates and merchants. We even touched on some of the FTC guidelines that have come out in the past few years for bloggers as well as tax legislation that affects the performance marketing industry as a whole.

The show itself was very exciting with thousands of attendees and more exhibitor booths than you could visit in a single day. I was able to spend quite a bit of time on the show floor with Jen meeting new bloggers and trying out a variety of new crafts and products.

If you’re a craft or hobby blogger and you’re looking to expand your blog from paid placements into affiliate marketing and aren’t sure where to begin, drop us a note. I would love to discuss your site and goals with you. Also, I highly recommend attending next year’s CHA Mega Show. I plan on attending next year, so let me know if you’ll be there too!
