We’re just a few short weeks from the start of Q2! The Lab6 Media team has pulled together a list of key Q2 2024 holidays and events to help you craft content for April, May, and June. In addition to more traditional holidays of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, below you’ll find a host of upcoming events that you should consider highlighting in the coming months.

April

National Sourdough Bread Day (April 1): It may also be April Fool’s Day, but this is no joke! We all fell back in love with bread during the pandemic and bread making is continuing its resurgence. Get a rise in your commissions by featuring ingredients and handy tools for the home baker.

National Tea Day (April 21): While this may be a quintessentially UK holiday, everyone enjoys a hot cuppa now and again! This is a great time to promote a variety of teas, tea sets, and gifts, especially with Mother’s Day just on the horizon.

Earth Day (April 22): Raise awareness about environmental issues by promoting brands that focus on sustainable and eco-friendly practices. Many brands provide additional resources and information about reducing environmental footprints and ways to make a positive impact on the planet that can be used for brainstorming new content.

National Small Business Week (April 28th – May 4th): Celebrate the contributions of small businesses and entrepreneurs by highlighting your own small business and partnering with other small businesses that you support.

May

Graduation Season: April through June marks the time when many students graduate from high school and college. Tailor your marketing efforts by promoting relevant products or services as gifts or for celebrations.

National BBQ Month (May): Leverage the popularity of barbecuing during this month for promoting food, cooking, recipes, or outdoor activities.

National Bike Month (May): Perfect for showcasing fitness, outdoor activity, or eco-friendly products and merchants.

National Pet Month (May): Use this month to promote pet-related products or services and explore pet-themed collaborations with brands and animal shelters.

Star Wars Day (May 4th): An informal celebration of all things Star Wars, this is a fun time to promote related content and products to pop culture savvy audiences. May the Fourth be with You, but always remember to beware the Revenge of the 5th!

Cinco de Mayo (May 5th): This Mexican holiday celebrating a military victory over the French in 1862 has become increasingly popular in the United States. It presents opportunities for themed promotions, events, and sales, especially for businesses in the food and beverage industry.

Mother’s Day (May 12th): With this marquee holiday, most brands will highlight their Mother’s Day promotions early. Many brands will also provide gift guides or a selection of recommended products. Check promo lists provided within affiliate networks for offers flagged specifically for Mother’s Day and reach out directly (and early!) to brands with your collaboration ideas.

Memorial Day (May 27th): A somber day of remembrance in the United States, commemorating military personnel who died while in service. While some brands will run sales these days, look to support brands who are collaborating with or donating to reputable support organizations such as the Gary Sinise Foundation and Operation Gratitude. (Both are Four-Star Charities as ranked by Charity Navigator)

June

Pride Month (June): Show support for the LGBTQ+ community by launching inclusive campaigns or partnering with LGBTQ+ organizations for awareness initiatives. Work with brands that foster safe spaces and a culture of respect.

World Environment Day (June 5th): Highlight brands that demonstrate a commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Be on the lookout for merchants with eco-friendly initiatives, green products, or educational campaigns.

Father’s Day (June 16th): Just like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day offers a myriad of opportunities for promotions, special deals, and campaigns centered around dads and father figures. Gift guides are a great way to promote multiple brands and to tailor content specifically for your audience.
