Migrating West: Affiliate Summit West 2024

Last week the team migrated north, east, and west to meet up at the Affiliate Summit West Conference. Some of us left the frozen suspension for a dry, sunny Vegas of blue skies and neon lights.

Vegas is a whimsical place: both earnest and superficial, purposefully designed for maximum fun, complete with codes of conduct to remind us we are in a city-sized theme park:

The conference space itself was a bit more of the wild wild west: a huge cavern that made it challenging to find people, but, when you did, the vibe and the conversation was good. No one could hear you unless they were directly in that conversation, and there was so much space that people freely moved in between conversations.

The panel discussions and main stage presentations were engaging and well-attended. Lab 6 Client Success Manager Scott Jangro summed up what he got out of the meeting as follows:

“As always, the best thing I get out of attending Affiliate Summit is to see old friends, many in new roles, and to meet new people in person who I’ve been working with only through email. It was also interesting to see the many new topics and business models that have more recently been introduced to the industry, most notably AI.”

As one of the only smaller agencies that goes after multi-billion dollar companies, Lab6’s Karen, Scott, Angel and Joel know a lot of people in the industry. As such, they had pre-scheduled meetings with many different heads of Networks, coupon and loyalty affiliate managers, and others.

Lab 6 Content Strategist Elena Krell was even photographed day 2 chatting with Breeze Leonard of SheBuysTravel.com over breakfast sandwiches at Caesar’s Forum:

Our Chief Technology Officer, Joel Garcia, found the “Meet Market” productive, connecting with a company in the large meet & greet that teaches folks how to get better at a particular e-commerce platform. They don’t (yet) have expertise in affiliate, so Lab6 could potentially offer some genuinely valuable educational and collaborative content.

ASW offers us opportunities as an agency to meet folks in schedule meetings, but also spontaneously, as we’re standing in line for coffee, grabbing lunch in the VIP lounge. These meetings create and nurture the relationships that make the affiliate industry what it is.

We also got a rare chance to share a meal together at the deliciously inspired Sparrow + Wolf restaurant. As a fully remote company since 2014, we are grateful for the opportunity to connect with each other, with old friends, and make a few new ones at Affiliate Summit West 2024.
