It’s Q4 and the holidays are looming large on the calendar. The Lab6 Media team has compiled a list of key important dates to help you keep track! Of course, we’re all familiar with the hustle and bustle of Black Friday and Cyber Monday and the quickened pace in the lead up to Christmas, but we’ve also detailed four upcoming shopping events that you should consider in your promotional planning.

Key dates for Q4 2018 for affiliate marketing from Lab6 Media

Singles Day

Though still eclipsed by Black Friday/Cyber Monday here in the US, Singles Day is the largest e-commerce shopping day in the world and originated in China as a celebration of pride in being single. This holiday is celebrated in many countries outside of China as well, so if you haven’t thought about incorporating Singles Day into your marketing strategy, you probably should.

Giving Tuesday

Recently begun in 2012 as a movement to create an international day of giving, Giving Tuesday occurs the day after Cyber Monday. While not all merchants participate in Giving Tuesday promotions, the number that do is growing and a large number of technology companies including Google, Microsoft, Facebook, and Cisco are actively promoting the event through participation, donation matching, and grants. If there is a cause that you are passionate about, reach out to that charity to see if they have partnered with any online merchants for donation purposes and also reach out to brands you love to see if they have a charity component planned that you can help publicize.

Green Monday

Generally falling on the second Monday of December, Green Monday is usually the best sales day in December. It falls close enough to Christmas that shoppers are starting to feel some urgency in completing their holiday gift buying, but still early enough in the calendar that shipping isn’t a huge cost and deals can still be found.

Free Shipping Day

Another fairly recent holiday event, this year will mark the 10th anniversary of Free Shipping Day. Generally, after Free Shipping Day, the cost of shipping packages for arrival before Christmas starts to rise. Keep an eye out for free shipping deals from retail merchants and promote relevant offers to your audience to maximize your holiday earnings.
